Who Are The Dor Brothers?
The Dor Brothers are the AI wunderkinds you maybe haven’t heard of but most likely have seen their content. Dubbed by Forbes as ‘among the most prolific producers of AI in the world’, The Berlin based studio has been behind videos that have accumulated millions of views.
Boasting a strictly artificial intelligence operation, The Dor Brothers have most recently made headlines for a series of deep fake videos featuring Donald Trump, Barack Obama, Kamala Harris and The Pope.
That’s not to say they don’t venture into the private sector. The Dor Brothers have created music videos for The Game, Snoop Dogg and French Montana as well as commercials for Vogue, e-Toro and Yamaha.
What Are The Dor Brothers Doing Right?
Aside from mastering a set of tools that for many filmmakers and creatives seem inaccessible and/or they deny their viability, The Dor Brothers have found success through unparalleled quality work and cultural disruption.
Deploying a strategy of featuring widely recognizable figures in insane situations in order to attract eyeballs, The Dor Brothers make the trip down their rabbit hole worth it. Parlaying their recently found stardom into putting forward their own narrative content, The Dor Brothers have released episode one of their new series Passage 12, a Sci-fi story with better visuals than most genre leading feature lengths.
The simple answer to the question is that The Dor Brothers didn’t resist the wave of change — they leaned in fast, hard and have positioned themselves to be on the forefront of AI driven content now and in the future.
How Can Hollywood Learn From This?
Embracing New Trends: The Dor Brothers are not just a random group of creators that grew up with AI. According to their biography they come from years in the traditional production space. Recognizing that a new wave of tech was set to take hold, they pivoted to this white space and have mastered it, allowing them the time to not only figure out the trend, but to harness all of its powers. If Hollywood were to lean in as hard as The Dor Brothers have, the sky's the limit with the capabilities of AI supplemented storytelling.
Nurturing Their Community For Future Gain: The Dor Brothers realized that they likely wouldn’t attract the eyeballs of the masses by just putting out conventional content. Therefore, they attracted notoriety by featuring worldly and controversial characters, creating attention on their work. Frequently putting out videos that pushed the envelope, a fanbase and community was born. Eventually realizing that their followers were there to stay, they have now parlayed their early success into putting forward a new narrative series, which is completely different from what they have done prior.
Ignoring Convention: Let’s be honest, creating a piece of content that features the Pope sticking up a bodega is likely not on any studio exec’s bingo card, but clearly there’s an audience for it. By sticking to ideas that the Hollywood gatekeepers would think are a tad insane and leaning into it, The Dor Brothers have created the expectation of seeing what we don’t expect to see anywhere else. Their ignoring of convention has propelled their brand onto the global stage, penetrating conventional and new media alike (Forbes, New York Times, Joe Rogan Podcast and more).
