So I think different audiences will move on different tracks. some towards these innovations and but also some away from them. the handcrafted grounded human content will have value. Anora-- which should and I believe will win the Oscar for best movie-- is my favorite example of what handmade content can look like and how it can grab audience

100% agree with this. I think the issue for a lot of traditional or legacy producers, who aren’t of a certain age where they have deals with the major studios, is how do they bridge the gap between the creator economy and film and television development. A lot of creators produce their own stuff and have a very lean, mean entrenched team around them. But, a lot want to expand their production quality, reach, and storytelling capability, meaning there are crossover skillsets needed. But no one knows how to reach out to them or where to sell them or how to add value. I think this type of conversation and newsletter is a great way to begin the educational conversation with the hopes of eventually cross pollinating. Look at TALK TO ME - that was a huge success. Colin and Samir want to do a traditional film. Ashlee Vance just started a media company. There is a lot of opportunity out there if producers can figure out how to reach out outside of the walled garden.
A very necessary open conversation. AI is transforming the way we create. Every morning there is a new tool to discover, a new catalyst. With that comes opportunity and there is no other choice but to embrace it. Even if the new generation is not so focused on quality it is on us all to guide them towards excellence in story telling.
The redefinition of "quality" is one of the most fascinating things in this moment. new tech = new aesthetic priorities. Polish and gloss is stuffy and inauthentic. In the 60s, the French New Wave introduced jump cuts and it felt electric. Feels like the shift happening right now is that times 100x... and people are engaging on unprecedented scale, globally. From a purely academic perspective, it's thrilling. excited to see where this conversation goes.
