At Made in Chelsea we had our own lingo. You could spot a real fan by whether he used the show's language and I remember during the NFT boom, all the Bored Apes holders were wearing merch and connecting on Discord and IRL on a regular basis. I think what holds a community together are great community managers. The creator can't do that all by himself.

The amount of time spent building a community doesn’t guarantee any of these dimensions but allows for all the trying and failures and experiments

As a builder of community you definitely need to start testing with live events, merch drops, and other ways to prove the market is portable. Important for community builders to put their communities to test when they hit what they think is a tipping point.

The industry has no shortage of frameworks for audience value. The harder problem is determining which signals are actually predictive in a specific business and what decisions should follow.

hey Darren— Take a look at what we outlined in the article and share it with a few of your colleagues as well. I’d love to get their perspective. I’ve already started applying this framework to several projects we’re working on, and it’s proven quite useful, but I’m very open to additional thoughts, refinements, or challenges to the thinking.
